The Midnight Procession

Every night at midnight, the bell tower of the Church of the Morning Lord tolls, and a green light fills the churchyard. From this light emerges a ghostly procession of the dead: warriors, wise men, dwarves, mages, all in archaic dress, marching westward through the village and toward Castle Ravenloft. Their numbers grow as they march. They fade at a certain distance — where they go is not visible from town.

Father Donavich describes them as souls from outside Barovia who cannot leave. They march as if their work is not finished. He prays for their release. The procession continues anyway.

The party observed the procession from inside the church at midnight during Session 4. Celeste watched from a window; the procession was visible for a distance before the light faded.
