Vallaki Vistani Camp

A camp about a half-mile southwest of Vallaki, outside the town walls. Danica and Irwin of the Keepers of the Feather are distrustful of it.

Description

The woods thin to reveal a large clearing with a grass-covered hill. Low houses with elegantly carved woodwork and decorative lanterns are built into the sides of the hill. Above the fog line at the top, a ring of barrel-topped wagons surrounds a large central tent with a smoke hole. Even at distance the place smells of wine and horses.

At the base of the hill: Dusk Elf men, dark-skinned with elvish features, keep watch outside their low houses. These are the surviving remnant of what Casimir called a nearly extinct people. They are not Vistani.

At the top of the hill: More horses than expected, tethered to stone blocks. Significantly fewer Vistani than expected — most are deployed in search parties looking for a missing child. The main tent is Luvash and Arigal's domain.

• Arabelle — Luvash's seven-year-old daughter; currently missing

Relationship with Strahd

The Vistani at this camp are more aligned with Strahd than the Tser Pool camp. The Dusk Elves are kept here at least partly on Strahd's behalf — shelter and captivity as one arrangement. The previous camp leader, Belikov, was described as genuinely kind; his descendants are not.
