Description
Brother Moro is a haunted monk who looks like he was assembled from spare parts and has been communing with entities the rest of the party cannot perceive since before anyone met him. He draws pictures that don't make sense. He responds to things that aren't there. His robe has a faint ghostly shimmer that nobody has directly addressed. He is, despite all of this, the most reliable person in any given fight to solve a physical problem by hitting it until it stops.
His method is direct contact. Where Sable shoots from shadows and Merich radiates divinity, Brother Moro puts his hands on whatever is causing trouble and removes it from the situation. He has punched a scarecrow to death by targeting its structural weakness — the butt — and methodically destroyed it. He has grappled ambush leaders out of tree lines and held them still while others finished the work. He has dragged a vampire spawn off a ceiling by raw force and dropped it into a square of sunlight. He solved a puzzle at a tower by identifying a stick-figure dance pattern. These are all the same skill, applied differently.
He also makes his own equipment. After killing the Nightmare Lumber King, he harvested bark from the corpse and wove it into bracers. His unarmed strikes now have magical properties, which is the kind of sentence that only makes sense if you already know Brother Moro.
He was once confronted with a vision of his own corpse hanging from a gallows beam and convinced himself it wasn't real. He passed the subsequent saving throw. He has not mentioned it since, which is either healthy or deeply concerning.
Brother Moro carries the torch. This is a metaphor for his role in the party and also literally true: he carries the torch, which makes him the most visible target in every dungeon encounter. He has absorbed more incoming damage than anyone in the party on multiple occasions and has remained functional throughout, which may say something about his constitution, his threshold for pain, or the nature of whatever he's been communing with.
